HAPPY DOGS. Like this I hear. Once the Blessed One was among the people Koliya Haliddavasana was the name of a town of the Koliya people. Then Punna Koliyaputta, practicing cow conduct, and naked Seniya, practicing dog conduct, went together to the Blessed One, after arriving at Punna Koliyaputta, practiced cow conduct, bowed down to the Blessed One, and sat down to one side. As for the naked Seniya, he practiced dog conduct, said hello to the Blessed One, after saying hello to his friends, then sat down to one side, crouching like a dog. After sitting to one side, Punna Koliyaputta, practicing the conduct of the cow, said to the Blessed One: — The Blessed One, naked Seniya, practiced the conduct of a dog, practiced difficult conduct, ate food thrown on the ground, accepted it. and practiced dog conduct for a long time, so how was his life, how was his destiny? — Well, just now, Punna, stop here, Don't ask Me anymore. The second time… (as above)… The third time Punna Koliyaputta, practiced the behavior of a cow, World Honored One: — World Honored One, naked Seniya practices the conduct of a dog, practices difficult actions, eats discarded food. on earth, accepting and practicing the dog's conduct for a long time, how was his birth, how was his destiny? — Hey, Punna, I really didn't accept your (question) and said: "Just now, Punna, stop here, don't ask Me anymore". However, I will answer you. Here, Punna, one who practices dog conduct fully fully, practices dog precepts completely, practices dog mind completely fully, practices dog majesty. in a completely perfect way, after the breakup of the body, after death, he will be born with friends with dogs. If he has a wrong view like this: "Due to this precept, this conduct, this austerity, or this holy life, I will be reborn in this deva, or in other deities", at this time Punna, for those who have wrong views, I say there is one of two rebirths as follows: hell or an animal. . Thus, Punna, if the conduct of a dog is accomplished, then one is reborn as a dog; if not accomplished, one is reborn in hell. When he was told so, Seniya's naked body, practicing dog conduct, wept and wept. Then the Blessed One said to Punna Koliyaputta, practicing the cow conduct: - O Punna, I did not accept your (question) and said: "Just now, Punna, stop here, don't ask me anymore." . "World-Honored One, I cry like this not because of what the Blessed One said about me. But for the sake of the Blessed One, I accepted and practiced this dog's conduct for a long time. The Blessed One, Punna Koliyaputta, practices this bull, has accepted and practiced this cow behavior, for a long time, so how is his life, how is his destiny? — Well just now Seniya, stop here, don't ask Me anymore. The second time… (as above)… The third time, Seniya naked, practicing the conduct of a dog, venerable sir: — Venerable sir, this Punna Koliyaputta has accepted and practiced this cow behavior for a long time. , so how is his life, his destiny? — Hey Seniya, I really did not accept your (question) and said: "Just now Seniya, stop here, don't ask me anymore". However, we will answer you. Here, Seniya, one who conducts the cow conduct perfectly perfectly, practices the cow precepts perfectly, practices the bull mind perfectly, practices the majesty of the cow. fully satisfied, After the breakup of the body, after death, he will be reborn as friends with cows. If he has the wrong view as follows: "Due to this precept, this practice, this asceticism, or this holy life, I will be reborn in this or other devas", at this time Seniya, to those with wrong views, I say there is one of two beings as follows: the hell or the eagle. Thus, Seniya, if the ox's conduct is accomplished, then one is reborn in the cow; if not accomplished, one is reborn in the hells. When this was said, Punna Koliyaputta, practicing the cow conduct, wept and shed tears. Then the Blessed One said to the naked Seniya, practicing dog behavior: - Seniya, I did not accept your (question) and said: "Just now Seniya, stop here, don't ask me anymore ". "World-Honored One, I cry like this not because of what the Blessed One said about me. But because, venerable sir, I have accepted and practiced this cow behavior for a long time. Venerable Sir, I have confidence in the Blessed One: The Blessed One can teach me the Dharma so that I can renounce this bull conduct and let Seniya, naked, practice the dog conduct, may abandon the dog conduct. this. — O Punna, listen and be attentive, I will speak. — Yes, venerable sir. Punna Koliyaputta obeyed the Blessed One. The Blessed One said this: "There are these four kinds of karma, Punna, which I have self-realized, realized, and preached. how is four? O Punna, there is black kamma leading to black retribution, O Punna, there is white kamma leading to white retribution, O Punna, there is black and white kamma leading to black and white retribution, O Punna, there is non-black and white karma leading to retribution Not black and white, karma leads to the cessation of karma. And what, Punna, is black karma leading to black retribution? Here, Here, Punna has someone who creates harmful bodily actions, harmful verbal actions, and harmful mental actions. Having created harmful bodily actions, harmful speech actions, and harmful mental formations, he is reborn in a world of harm. Because he has to be reborn in a world of harm, he feels harmful emotions. Due to feeling harmful emotions, he feels harmful feelings, pure painful feeling, like the beings in hell. Thus, Punna, is the arising of a being dependent on living beings, that being arises according to one's own actions, and when that being has arisen, emotions excite him. Therefore, Punna, I say: "Sentient beings are the heirs of [our] karma". Thus, Punna, is called black karma leading to black retribution. And what, Punna, is white kamma leading to white retribution? Here, hey Punna, There are people who do bodily action without harm, verbal action without harm, and mental action without harm. Having done bodily action without harm, without harm in speech, without harm in mind, he is reborn in the world without harm. Because he must be born in the world without harm, he feels emotions without harm. By feeling emotions without harm, he experiences feelings without harm, pure bliss, like the Subhakhians. Thus, Punna is the arising of a being dependent on living beings, that being arises according to one's own actions; and when that being has been born, the emotions stimulate that being. Therefore, Punna, I say: "Sentient beings are the heirs of [our] karma". Thus, Punna, is called white karma leading to white retribution. And what, Punna, is black-and-white kamma that leads to black-and-white retribution? Here, Punna, someone does bodily formations that are harmful and non-harmful, verbal actions that are harmful and non-harmful, and mental actions that are harmful and unharmed. Having done harmful and unharmed bodily formations, hurtful and unharmed verbal actions, hurtful and unharmed mental formations, he is reborn in the world of harm and no harm. Because he has to be reborn in the world of harm and no harm, he feels emotions that are both harmful and non-harmful. Due to feeling afflictive and non-harmful emotions, he experiences painful and non-harmful sensations, mixed with pleasant feeling and painful feeling, as some Humans, some devas, and some others. beings in the lower realms. So, this Punna is the arising of a being dependent on being, that being arises depending on his actions; and when that being has been born, the emotions stimulate that being. Therefore, Punna, I say: "Sentient beings are the heirs of [our] karma". Thus, Punna, is called black-and-white kamma that leads to black-and-white retribution. And what, Punna, is karma that is not black and white, leading to its results not black and white, karma that leads to the cessation of karma? Here, Punna, where there is a will (Cetana) to eliminate black karma, leading to black retribution, where there is will to eliminate white karma, leading to white retribution, where there is a will to eliminate karma, Black and white leads to black and white retribution. Here, Punna, where there is such will, Punna, is called non-black and white kamma leading to non-black and white retribution, karma leads to the cessation of karma. These four kinds of karma, Punna, I have self-realized, realized, and preached. When this was said, Punna Koliyaputta, who practices the cow conduct, said to the Blessed One: - How wonderful, venerable sir! How wonderful, World-Honored One! The Blessed One, like a man standing up what has fallen, revealing what is hidden, showing the way to those who have gone astray, bringing a light into the darkness so that those with eyes may see colors. . Likewise, the Dharma has been explained by the World-Honored One. I take refuge in the Blessed One, take refuge in the Dharma, and take refuge in the Sangha. I hope the World-Honored One will accept me as a layperson. From now on, until my death, I will be devoted to you for the rest of my life. As for the naked Seniya, who practices the conduct of a dog, the Blessed One: "It's wonderful, Lord! How wonderful, venerable sir! White World Honored One, He is like a man standing up what has fallen, revealing what is hidden, showing the way to those who have gone astray, bringing light into the dark so that those with eyes may see form. Likewise, the Dharma has been explained by the World-Honored One. I take refuge in the Blessed One, take refuge in the Dharma, and take refuge in the Sangha. I hope the World-Honored One will let me go forth with the World-Honored One, may I receive great precepts. — Seniya, anyone who was formerly a non-Buddhist and now wishes to become a monk and to receive great ordination in this Dharma and Discipline must live four months in seclusion. After living for four months in isolation, the Sangha, if they agree, will be ordained, or ordained, to become a Male-stilt. But I see here that human nature is different. "World-Honored One, if those who were formerly non-Buddhist sectarians want to go forth from the home life and receive great precepts in this law and discipline, they must live four months in seclusion, After living for four months in seclusion, the Sangha, if they agree, will be ordained, give great precepts, and become a bhikkhu, then I will ask to live in seclusion for four years. After living in seclusion for four years, if the bhikkhus agree, I hope the bhikkhus will ordained me and receive the great precepts for me to become a bhikkhu. And naked Seniya, practiced dog conduct, was ordained with the Blessed One, received great ordination. Not long after receiving the great precepts, Venerable Seniya lived alone in peace, without distraction, with enthusiasm and diligence. And not long after this, he realized the ultimate goal that the descendants of the householders had ordained, abandoned the family, and lived without family. That is the unsurpassed holy life in the present, self-realization, realization, attainment and abiding. He knows: "Birth is over, the holy life has been accomplished, what should have been done has been done, after this life there will be no other life."
